I have the opportunity to read an advance copy of a new book and I want to tell you about it as I am reading it. The book is a new edition of John Owen’s Communion With The Triune God and the editors of this edition are Kelly M. Kapic and Justin Taylor. You can find info about the book here or here.
So far I have read the introduction which is lengthy, but tremendously helpful as the editors introduce us to Owen’s thought. What I liked about the introduction is Read the rest of this entry »
OK, I admit it, I am a “reading” nerd. (Do we still use the word nerd today? Feel free to substitute the equivalent word from today’s society!) When it comes to reading, most people just do it. They pick up a book they want to read (or know they should read!) and just do it. Not me! I read books on reading before I even get to the reading I plan on doing. I know, laugh if you want. It is worthy of being mocked a bit.
Now that you are done laughing at my nerdiness, let me explain why I do what I do. Read the rest of this entry »
I ran across this article by Chris M. Leland that is very helpful as a short introduction to the importance of worldview issues.
I hope you enjoy it.

I have been visiting my parents in PA this last week and yesterday I had the opportunity to offer a Reel Discernment to a women’s Bible study. We had a great time and I plan on making the audio available as soon as I can. We covered the movie Premonition staring Sandra Bullock. In the next couple of days, we will also cover Stranger Than Fiction and The Last Mimzy.
In the process of offering studies to people who are brand new to what we are doing with this ministry, I thought it would be helpful to give an introduction and a biblical reasoning for even having a study like this. Below are the notes I put together for that introduction. Enjoy and give me your thoughts.

I have been on a semi-vacation over the last few days and have been reading quite a bit. I read two especially interesting books that I will probably blog a bit on in the near future. Anyway, I thought it would be good to find out what all of you are reading right now. It does not have to be brand new, but what are you working through?
I will start by telling you the two books I mentioned above. I just finished The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid and The Man Who Heard Voices: or, How M. Night Shyamalan Risked His Career on a Fairy Tale by Michael Bamberger.
Both of them are very interesting. I will recommend both for different reasons that I will give in the coming days.
So, what are you reading and would you recommend it to anyone?
